The National Council for Peace and Order has not received any report about fugitive former prime ministers Thaksin and Yingluck Shinawatra planning political activities in Hong Kong, said NCPO spokesman Col Winthai Suwaree on Thursday (Feb 15).

The above statement was in response to a claim by Mr Somchai Sawaengkarn, a member of the National Legislative Assembly, that Ms Yingluck planned  to hold a press conference in Hong Kong end of this month or early March as part of their campaign for global pressure on the military regime in Thailand.

Col Winthai said that it was the duty of the Foreign Ministry and the Royal Thai Police to pursue the two former prime ministers.

This is getting embarrassing...

the duty of the Royal Thai Police is to do what they want.

You'd also think they'd know what their duties are and wouldn't have to be told in a passive-aggressive manner.

Just more evidence that no one has any real control here. No one is really in charge.

Hello, anybody home?

If the Shins are hovering around Thailand and some people here and there are "staging a protest to return the Shins to power, ehhhhh, bring back democracy", wouldn't there be a possibility of a connection, maybe?

I think your innuendo is too late.

Prayut has already claimed since last year that all anti-government protests (he does not distinguish between his government and human rights protests) must be covertly financed by the PTP. It's just difficult to find a connection.

From Prayut's perspective, one is either for him (as the junta) or against him. There is no other issue such as deprivation of democracy.

Thank you very much. Great news for these news. My first laugh today...

Laughing is healthy, so please keep making these statements!

Happy new Chinese Year to everyone!!!

1 No money in it.

2 If they do ever come back, things might get a little intense for any enthusiastic pursuers.

"Col Winthai said that it was the duty of the Foreign Ministry and the Royal Thai Police to pursue the two former prime ministers."

And to give them as much publicity as possible?

I guess the Junta is trying to look proactive.

While remaining firmly "behind the curve".
