thethaimate
Hi, I was told in Bangkok International Dental Center (BIDC) that to make "Root canal re-treatment with medication applied for about 7 days to clean all infections" with microscope will cost me 20 000 THB. Attached X-ray. Please, experienced people, tell me, Is it normal price for Thailand to make root canal re-treatment of 26 tooth? Do Thai people really pay this prices? In my country usually it costs around 7000 THB (private medicine). it's just an ordinary Thai price for this treatment or there are some places with lower price? Where is the place with optimal price/ quality dental treatment in Thailand ? I live on Koh Samui and there are no specialists for this type of treatment here... Thank you. tonray
Depends on whether molar (most expensive as more canals), or bicuspid or incisor. BIDC (where I also go...is generally on the high side of Bangkok pricing...having said that....you always see a specialist and you always get top notch service in a timely manner...for example just the other day I called at 9:30 and was in to see a specialist at 2 PM. No screwing around like small clinics that have the root canal guy show up every other Thursday at 3 and you need to wait.
Sheryl
15-20,000 is in my experience usual price for a full root canal at private Bangkok dentists. How much within that range depends on the number of roots and how complex. This price does nto include placement of a post and crown as is usually necessary. However it seems you already had a root canal on this tooth. I am not competent to determine whether or not the tooth needs retreatment nor, if so, why and what will be involved. Best I can suggest is to take the Xray to another dentist for a second opinion. The best price for dental treatment is to be found in government facilities but be aware that this entails very long waits and treatment that could be accomplished at a private facility in say 1 month can take as much as 6 to complete. It will vary by the part of the country, where I live there is a 3 month wait just to see an endodontist. In Bangkok best government option would be Mahidol University Dental Hospital http://www.dt.mahidol.ac.th/en/hospital-phayathai-campus/ Closer to home, Surat Thani hospital will have dental services including endodontics, but wait list may be very long. In many provinces there is also an after hours (evenings and Saturdays) dental clinic run by the Thai Red Cross out of or near the provincial public health office. In my province it is the same one endodontist at both the provincial hospital and the Thai Red Cross but wait to see him is less at the latter. I don't know if this will be true in Surat also but you could have a Thai speaker call and ask: 0 7727 2784 ext 108 , 154 , 155 While government hospital will take much longer and involve far more waits (both between visits and on the day of visits - plan on spending full day), costs will be around 1/3 that of private. Of course you have to figure in what you have to spend for travel and that may change the overall equation.

yooper
11K each for a couple crowns in past 2 weeks, a root canal was going to be 6K but the tooth had to be pulled upon closer inspection. Getting best quality upper denture next month for under 30K, my back upper teeth on both sides are gone. I am in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, dentist speaks English well but is only in the clinic every Tuesday, minimal waiting, he is wonderful and very outgoing .... other dentists on other days at the clinic, in the Big C Mall, ground floor.
