jerry921
For US citizens, if you use the notarized-statement-of-income from the embassy to get an extension of your permit to stay, is that a one-time thing or do you need to get a new letter every year? inThailand
A new one every year. They also like it recent, as I remember less than 30 days old.
elviajero
They are only, usually, good for 6 months max, so you need a new one every year.

jerry921
It stands to reason that you'd need a new one, but I had a vague recollection otherwise that I will now chalk up as a false memory. Thanks for the confirmation of common sense. And, for US citizens, these can only be obtained in the US embassy in Bangkok, am I recalling that part correctly? If you live elsewhere in Thailand you have to travel to Bangkok or use the other alternative, the 800k Thai bank account with appropriate seasoning. (for a non-married retiree like myself). Thanyaburi Mac
Wrong. Immigration will accept one that is up to 6 months old. I have personally used one that was over 4 months old. Been that way since May of 2013. You can get them at the embassy in Bangkok or the consulate in Chiang Mai. Or at one of the outreaches. Not hard to plan on getting one since the 6 month rule came out. You can plan on getting it along with other trips to Bangkok.

Might be worth your while printing off the Immigration Directive and showing it to them if they start moaning again about the age of your income letter next time.

I think it will be 12 to 3 pm since that is the hours they had for the most recent outreach in Udon. They have changed the hours to reduce costs. No need for an overnight stay to be there at 8am.
