  1. One of my favorites: "Car 54 where are you"? Tutty and Mulddoon. They were the same 2 actors who were grandpa and Lurch on the Adams family. Good stuff, both shows.
  2. Been a member since 2003 (thaivisa.com) but this Aseannow site just doesn't work for me on my PC using Windows 10. (Google chrome) I get to the homepage and then anything I click on from there just goes nowhere? This has been going on for at least 6 months. Anybody know a solution?
  3. came to this thread expecting to hear from others about inexpensive, yet decent phones. Instead, I find an obvious troll post on the 2nd answer and so many fell for it. Wouldn't it be better if the admins would just delete a post like that? Or is it that they like the trolls ruining a thread like this? Or else, just learn to spot a troll? Anyway, I have a Samsung that I bought 2 1/2 years ago. Not the cheapest but it takes great pictures, has lots of memories and is quite durable. It's a Galaxy S20 I believe.
  4. Does anyone know if this is still the case and if any of the other hospitals are giving the jab here in Feb of 2023? Cost?
  5. Black Rock is pretty awesome IMO. Also the Dragon Campground in the same area. You need to walk to get to both though.
  6. If you're just one person, the Smart bus is only 100 baht and almost as quick as a cab. (if it's leaving soon) They leave every hour, on the hour. 100 baht to Talang, Surin, Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata, Rawai. All are the same price. Great bus! Friendly drivers.
  7. I agree about Laem Prom Thep. I have a BIG friend who needed some shirts. He wanted 4X or 5X. They had up to 6X (too big for him)
  8. Simple: Because they can say what they want, anonymously. These (haters) people are most likely not like this in real life. But one of the problems with the internet world is the "hiding behind a fictitious name" Most people are good people. Especially Thais. (they ain't on here)
  9. It is the future. Here starting already. I first saw it in Sweden 3 years ago. (before covid) and was shocked and scared. But you get used to it. We still had some cash because the reindeer herders would only take cash for the boat rides, but most everywhere else was app or credit card only. So, now it's becoming mainstream in Thailand. I'm sure it'll be rough for some for a while. Sort of like smart phones. But we got used to them, didn't we? (well most of us anyway) Good luck folks. Crypto accepted everywhere is next.
  10. Just came back from a 3,500 km road trip (10 days) from Phuket to northern Thailand and many places in between. I'd say about 95% of Thai people were wearing masks everywhere we went in rural Thailand (we didn't hit any big cities and didn't stay in any cities bigger than Chumpon) But back in Phuket now, only about 70% of Thai people wearing them and about 50% of farangs. Just my observation.
  11. I believe the best ones are quite remote and it's advantageous to stay on their grounds. Is THAT what you are looking for? If so, yes, the Amanpuri is probably the highest end one. But there are so many. Some are closer to other (night) action in case you want to experience more than just high end amenities. For example the Pullman near Naithon beach is nice, as well as the Hilton in Karon. Both very nice and near good beaches.
  12. I jumped to the last page so .........this has all probably been said before. Isn't it obvious? Camera quality is MUCH better. Memory is bigger (which not only means you can take lots of pics and videos, but you can download many apps (and they work!) Longevity (quality again) More RAM (so you can do more, faster) I normally find that people who have cheap phones don't use them for much. ps Is the OP a troll?
  13. In 1985, my health insurance coverage refused to pay for stiches in my hand. I had been paying them $350 a month for the past 10 years or so. I stopped the coverage at that time (when they refused to pay for my hand problem because of their fine print exemptions) Since then, prices have gone up dramatically, but, even if they hadn't, I figure they lost AT LEAST $4000 a year for the past 35 years from me! That amount of savings (by me) should cover any medical problem that I come up with here in Thailand. I hope that helps you understand. I've had two trips to the hospital here in my 20 years here and they cost me a combined total of $4,500
  14. That's funny. Because I had 2 MG-B's back in the late 60's, early 70's. Both took lots of work to keep them going. (but fun to drive and looked good when they were working LOL) Lucas electrical systems! (anybody remember them? Or the T-shirts that said "No wonder the British like warm beer, they have Lucas refrigerators") So, I have an old bias towards any car that says MG. They look great but just can't associate the word with something reliable.
  15. Don't know why there would only be 10 listed. Here are the west side beaches listed (except for Mai Khao, which I have yet to measure because of the checkpoint up there, getting back) List of Phuket’s beaches 1. Amanpuri Beach 440 meters long 2. Anantara Beach 330 meters long 3. Ao Sane Beach 129 meters long 4. Banana Beach 170 meters long 5. Freedom Beach 285 meters long 6. Hyatt Regency Beaches: Smaller West Beach: 84 meters. Larger East beach: 435 meters 7. Jungle Beach 47 meters long 8. Kalim beach 320 meters long 9. Kamala beach 2.1 kms 10. Karon Beach 3.7 kms 11. Kata beach Length: 1.21 kms 12. KataNoi Beach Length 0.75 kms 13. Laem Sing Beach 340 meters long 14. Layan/Mai Khao beach-5.5 kms 15. JW Marriott’s Merlin Beach 310 meters 16. Meridian Beach 330 meters long 17. Nai Harn Beach 700 meters long 18. NaiYang Beach 3.4 kms 19. NaiThon Beach 1.06 kms 20. Naka Beach 230 meters long 21. Paradise beach distance: 100 meters, Small beach to the south: 43 meter 22. Patong Beach: 2.82 kms 23. Surin Beach 890 meters long 24. Tavorn Beach 542 meters long 25. Tri Trang Beach 780 meters long 26. Trisara Beach 266 meters long 27. White Sand Beach 299 meters long My favorite? Probably either White Sand (because it's usually empty) or Nai Harn (it's been nicknamed "porn star beach" by some since the girls have seemed to move there from Patong's ghost town. (and the fashion trend this year seems to be "skin") For artistic style: Nui Beach. Only one of these made the OP's list so I have to assume they're the ones he goes to.
