I currently have an health insurance from AXA for my wife & I , but after a moderate increase last year, this year my premium increased by 30%, some of it due to my changing of age band, some of it due to an increase base premiums, and finally they reduced our discount from 15% to 5%. So I've been looking for an alternative, and found FWD Insurance offers similar plans as AXA insurance but a lower price.

The company appears to be Singapore based with branches in South East Asia. Has anybody had any experiences with them? So far, they have not really been responsive to my inquiries (in English), but once I involved my Thai wife in the process it was easier to get information.

I'm also considering whether an insurance makes financial sense. If I end up keeping the AXA insurance until 75 year old, we're going to pay around 2 millions Baht for an insurance that excludes OPD, and pays up to 400,000 Baht per injury.

I only know, that for example if you are german speaking in Hua Hin you can find many FWD dealers.

I also looked into this Insurance, but was not so impressed by their benefits. I couldn't find  one which had enough benefits (Ultra 3 Million baht).

The advantages I see in this insurance, that you only go to the Hospital show the card and no prepaiments are needed.

I am also Interested if some of the members here have Information about this Insurance company.

They have something called Extra CARE that covers up to 3.6xx million Baht.
All info about that one is in Thai however. It would have cost close to 100,000 Baht per year for a couple (42 and 51 y.o)

I would expect that to also be true with AXA and other insurance that provide cover in Thailand (although specific hospitals might be required).  This indeed is a big advantage of insurance - you will be taken care of in a timely manner as hospital will quickly know you can pay bill.

Afraid I can't tell you anything about FWD, but I can tell you that your AXA policy is very inadequate - you need 3-5 million per event. 400,000 baht is not enough, even if you stick solely to government hospitals.
