I got some fish from Chatuchak about a week ago, while maybe 20% of them died, the remainder look healthy. they recently started to have babies! AHHHHHHHHH. The girls love seeing the little dots swim around. Now, the question is this, how long before they are too big for the adults to swallow whole. That is the bit they are less keen on. Any ideas how to stop it? They are all the same species (not sure what that is, bulbous shape, 3cm long and quite big bellied. Black and orange and white. The offspring are all black, maybe they'll change colour later (if they live that long)>

guppies maybe? they are live breeders. or platties? or swordtails?? mollies?? show a pic.

there are plastic boxes that u can put in the aquarium and put the babies in it; they are separated from the adults but in te same water etc. and give them baby fish food (finely ground up fish food or special baby fish food for that type of fish).

:D Put a picture up, I've just about managed to work out how to use the camera, let alone put pictures on the computer. anyhow, I digress, I am reliably informed that they are mollies. It would appear the problems has been resolved now though, there were 11 when we went to bed last night and now there are 13. Actually, 12, one disappeared accidentally down the sucker bit of the plecko we have :o

We have a lot of ponds around the house, all with fish in them and when we first started to fill them with fish, I found that many of the adults died over the first few days, much more than you 20%...but they did not die before having many babies.

All the babies grew up and thrived in the ponds, adapting better I guess. We did not seperate any of them and they all lived, we also do not feed them anything different than what the adults get, they manage to chew it all as it gets softer.

One nice thing here is that some tropical aquarium species will live in your outdoor ponds with near no attention other than food.

Latest addition was the yellow and blue 'gouremets' I think they are called and while again the majority of adults died, they had around a dozen babies that are thriving now.

<deleted>? Plain flour is fine. Mix it up, even add a dab of butter, flatten out thin with an old vodka bottle, fire up a pan on high and toast the MF on both sides. What do you think I ate in school when there was no ketchup left for soup? :bah:

:o

Here's one chapati recipe.

3 Table Spoons Plain Flour

Sprinklings Of Water, salt

Table Spoon Of Milk if you have it or add more water

1. Mix flour into dough, avoiding getting too sticky, but kneading into soft balls

2. Flatten out with fists, turning and folding until even consistency

3. Heat frying pan with thin covering of vegetable oil

4. Place pan sized chapati in pan

5. Heat at a medium to high heat and turn when stiff

Here are some other tips for sourcing food.

Only go for rats that are clearly healthy and full grown

Only attempt to get rats from clean places

Always pull over and pick up a chicken if it has just been killed on the road - before any other car/bike runs over it

DON'T ever go onto private land to pick up any dead animals - you will be shot

Always eat your own road kill

I posted sum years ago about following behind a truck wid big tanks ob fish onna smallish suphanburi country road...the truck hitta bump inna road anna fish popped out...the car was stopped immediately an' my wife retrieved the fish, held it up in triumph an' I said 'pla?' the wife an' her brother piped up in unison 'plachon!'

they cooked it up fer supper...I don't like river fish much...too many bones an' mushy flesh...can't help bein' an old grumpy falang fart... :o
