I am currently staying in Thailand on a 12 extension of stay based on Marriage, my next 90 day report is 30th May 2018, and my extension of stay expires on the 7th of June 2018.

I need to go back to Australia shortly, for a unknown period of time. I will get a re-entry permit. I do plan to re-enter before my extension of stay expires.

My question is how long before the extension of stay expires, do I have to submit application for renewal for 12 months or can this be done on the 7th of June.

You could do it on the last day but best to allow some time in case you were short something and could not get the extension on the same day you were trying.

It can be done on the 7th June.

 

There’s s no huge advantage in ‘renewing’ as each year is effectively a new application. Getting a new non ‘O’ in Oz, re-entering with that, and extending your stay within the last 30 days of the new 90 day stay is an option.

Actually there could be a huge advantage if it were the year they change requirements; as has happened in the past, and those having extensions are grandfathered.
