Another Party of One?

Some Thais feel hope in the yet-to-be-named political party by Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, a 39-year-old businessman and law lecturer Piyabutr Saengkanokkul.

Thanathorn is a former student activist who became vice president of his family business, and some believe the new party will push for progressive policies.

It’s unclear at this stage what those policies will be, as Thanathorn cites the junta’s ban on any campaigning to remain cagey.

Yes me too.

His uncle Suriya was transport minister in one of Thaksin's governments and was involved in the overpriced scanners for Suv airport. His other claim to fame was blocking (temporarily thankfully) the lower taxation for EU-econ small cars as they would compete against the pickups that his company (Thai Summit) supplied parts for.

Put him together with the professor from the Nitirat group and you have a sort of Jekyll & Hyde party.

In other words: Thanathorn will fit right in with the rest of the deplorable bunch. I already get a sour taste in my mouth when I read that he became VP of his family business. As if that would be an achievement that he had to work extra hard for, earning the position by proving professional capabilities and abilities.

And when I read your very interesting background story, I just see another corrupt trough feeder in the making who has learned all the wrong things from his relatives and whose political party will be little more than a congregation of sycophants.

It's too sad that there seems to be not one single young, fresh, bight mind that is willing and determined to overhaul Thai politics from the ground up. That is what the country needs, not someone who "became vice president of his family business" just by merit of his name.

Activist? Sounds more like an elitist, empowered, entitled Thai that had a privileged upbringing and has zero empathy for the poor that make up the majority of the Thai populace. Red, Yellow Green it's all the <deleted> same just different noses in the trough. I try not to comment much on these threads but I truly feel for the majority of Thais who are so brainwashed, downtrodden and Ill informed I really see no hope of them ever getting an " elected" government they deserve as they don't have the mongrel in them to achieve that goal.

It's all in the family Thais.

Thanathorn.                                 Thaksin and Suriya.                                Thaksin & Yingluck.
