NEW YORK (Reuters) - A helicopter carrying several people crashed in New York City's East River on Sunday and police and fire department divers were in the water around the partially submerged aircraft, according to officials and media reports.

HAVANA (Reuters) - Cubans went to the polls on Sunday in a one-party vote, the last step before a new president is selected next month, as the Communist-ruled island prepares to be led for the first time since the 1959 revolution by someone whose last name is not Castro.

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's finance ministry is set to report on Monday that documents were doctored in a suspected cronyism scandal, which if true would add further pressure on Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his close ally, Finance Minister Taro Aso.

Brand new transformer exploded causing fire that injured two behind Walking Street

Patong Municipality found guilty over illegal hotel construction

PHUKET: Patong Municipality has confirmed that it has not fulfilled a court order to issue a notice for the Andakira Hotel to remove all structures that exceed the original building permit issued seven years ago despite a court ruling that has found Patong Municipality and the Office of the Patong Mayor guilty of failing to perform their duties in ensuring that the original building permit was adhered to.

As a sit on my balcony, with only a pair of shorts on looking out to sea and enjoying a cup of Tetley tea, it would be too easy to suggest I have found utopia. Firstly, utopia does not exist and secondly – however good it is living in Thailand – I do miss many things that come from living in the UK. I think as an expat it is easy to forget what these things are, but when you start penning a list it becomes quite extensive!
