A Chinese tourist praised the tourist police and an honest Pattaya cabby after he was reunited with his cash and valuables.

Mr Lyu Junhao and his friends had been in Thailand since the 6th of March visiting Chiang Mai and Bangkok and had just taken a cab to a hotel when they realized a bag was missing containing 5,000 yuan and 6,000 baht and other valuables such as credit cards.

He dialed 1155, the tourist police hotline, but chief Piyapong Ensarn had already been contacted by the driver Prasat Khayankhai, 51, who found the bag in his cab ทข (thor khor) 568.

A meeting was set up outside Central Marina where the tourist said well done to the efficient cops and praised Prasat for his honesty.

He handed over 100 yuan (just under 500 baht) as a reward.

Just "cabby" would do, we all know that these saints on wheels are all honest beyond reproach.

I wonder which particular horrendous crime against tourists this story has been wheeled out to negate

I use Grab Taxi, so avoid those cabbies altogether...

Nonsense.

I wonder if he is the Pattaya cabby who uses his meter?

I am actually amazed that you realized that. Good work, though, and very relevant.

On the other hand it was a good cabby and a quick solution to satisfaction, for all exept the cabby. He should have been rewarded with a little bit more. Like minimum 5 % and generally 10 % would have been suitable.

Suprised you did not notice the reward was given in yuan even though the Chinaman had 6,000 thb in his bag.  But more important is to dispute the % if reward given.

Good work.

He must be a hi-so Chinese, maybe he is the factory owner of fake watches.

Like in Australia or the USA?  Famous for their honesty,  decency and low crime, rate.  Where are, you from and what religion to polutte this, forum with your anti Thai race hate?

It's like saying 'an uncorrupted Pattaya policeman'. ALL cab-drivers in Pattaya break the law of the land by never using meters.  This is condoned by the Police mafia.  The story has been concocted to negate the tourist beaten up earlier this week.

Some of that race hate has already got deleted and posters whose only purpose is to promulgate it usually get banned eventually.

No.

Some of colinneil's posts should come with warning labels. Giving this particular silly conspiracy theory to our hapless members suffering from Tic-Related Police Conspiracy OCD (TRPCOCD), now parroting it reflexively whenever some act of kindness by Thais gets reported, was like giving lao khao to alcoholics. I probably need to go through the forum and pull out all such acts reported here by our members to counteract the nonsense. However, the forum is after all infested with bashers, whingers, haters, and trolls who wouldn't post any good stories anyway.
