BANGKOK, 13th March 2018 (NNT) – Thailand’s secondary tourism destinations are the main focus of this year’s promotional efforts, according to the National Policy Committee for Tourism.

Minister of Tourism and Sports, Weerasak Kowsurat said on Monday that the latest meeting of the National Policy Committee for Tourism, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, had discussed the tourism promotional strategy of 2018.

Mr. Weerasak said that the discussion concluded that 2018 tourism revenue will be an estimated three trillion baht, with one trillion baht to come from spending by local tourists and the remainder from foreign travelers.

He said that the tourism industry has already seen an expansion of the number of tourists during the first two months of this year.

The Tourism Minister went on to say that the 2018 tourism strategy will focus on secondary tourism destinations in order to promote local economies — an effort that will be implemented with cooperation from various agencies to bring more travelers to these cities.

He added that facilities in all regions will be improved and the process will be constantly inspected.
