Question about AIS wireless coverage

Featured Replies

 Hello,

When I arrived in Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi Airport I spent money for a 10-day SIM card. This meant that I would have unlimited internet. Now I am in Phitsanulok for a few days and then going on to Chiang Mai. My wireless service is currently not working in Phitsanulok and I worry if it'll work in Chiang Mai or not. I have been relying on it heavily so I need it to work. Does anybody have the best email or customer service that I can contact? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What device/mobile do you use the SIM with?

Model nr. and country where it was bought.

AIS generally has a wide coverage and outages in densely populated areas are unlikely.

Are you out in the sticks, unpopulated area or in the city?

What does the signal indicator (strength) show (if any)?

I am asking about the device because it might not be fully compatible with Thailand frequencies/services.

The device worked fine for two days in Bangkok. It is an HTC phone. The signal actually seems pretty strong with all of the 5 to 6 bars shown. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is.

So you see "AIS" and a strong signal indicator.

But you don't see an indicator for mobile internet like "3G", "4G", "H", "H+" or the like?

You have checked that you didn't accidentally turn off mobile data?

Additionally enter this to check whether the SIM is subscribed for a data package:

There is a strong signal and it also says AIS.

I checked the settings and mobile data is turned "on" but next to it, it says "disconnected because service is unavailable."

Maybe this AIS Traveler's Sim card was never expected to go to Phitsanulok.

A quick search indicates that this may be a unique problem related to your HTC phone. Maybe RAM over-run?

What is the exact model number? Android rev.?

Some solutions include toggling to/from airplane mode, toggling data off/on, soft-reset, restarting the phone.

You can try the SIM in another phone - just ask someone nicely and they'll help - just to verify.
