REUTERS/Yuri Gripas WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort on Wednesday filed a motion in federal court seeking to dismiss charges against him, saying that the special counsel had exceeded his authority by charging Manafort with crimes not related to Russian meddling in the 2016 election. In a 46-page filing with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Manafort's attorney Kevin Downing also said Manafort had been threatened with additional indictments and "faces a game of criminal-procedure whack-a-mole" by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who has massive government resources he cannot possibly match. They allowed Ken Starr to investigate Bill Clinton's BJ from Monica Lewinski based on a special counsel referral for an investigation of Hillary Clinton's investment in Whitewater. Ken Starr turned out to be a total fraud as he subsequently was forced to resign in disgrace from Baylor University due to his cover up of a huge sexual misconduct scandal involving the football team. Manafort's only hope is to get a pardon from Trump, but he's running out of time, because it's a big risk if he goes to trial. He will certainly be found guilty and get what amounts of a life sentence. He's wearing 2 GPS ankle bracelets as a condition of his bail agreement. Guys like him, Carter Page, and Sater are total flight risks. mrwebb8825 Posted March 18, 2018 Share Posted March 18, 2018 If they were Russian citizens, they'd be at a party telling jokes and getting laid knowing they'd NEVER face trial in the states just like the 13 real Russian citizens are doing now.
