Deputy Police Commander insists no special treatment being provided to Italian Thai CEO

BANGKOK, 20th March 2018 (NNT) – Deputy Commander of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Sriwara Rangsiphramnakul, who is leading investigations into Italian Thai Development Co Ltd CEO Premchai Karnasutra and other suspects accused of poaching offences, has assured the public that no special treatment or assistance is being provided to the business tycoon.

Pol Gen Sriwara expressed confidence ahead of a scheduled appearance by Premchai, his wife and others, to hear further charges, including attempted bribery of state agents, that they would show up as scheduled.

Premchai’s spouse, Kanit Karnasutra, and Wandee Sombhumi, who validated their purchase of elephant ivory, are being charged with illegally possessing animal remains and violating the protected animals act. Pol Gen Sriwara has committed to questioning the suspects himself.

A request has been submitted to the director-general of the Customs Department, for a probe into the Karnasutra family’s importation of elephant ivory into Thailand. The Department of Special Investigations has declined to take up the matter as a special case, saying it can be handled by police.

Firearms found at Premchai’s home, which have been tracked back to the United Kingdom, are also being checked for legality. The Ministry of Defense is taking part in the probe as there are suspicions the weapons are military issue.

Meanwhile, Pol Gen Sriwara says that Premchai has not attempted to seek special treatment or leniency and that no such concessions will be provided. He noted that forensic evidence in the case is strong and no use of influence can sway its progress. He thanked the Sueb Nakasathien Foundation for valuing the work of police and allowing them to work according to the law.

Premchai is getting no special treatment, he is only getting the same treatment, as any person who parts with a bloody Big envelope.

Absolute nonsense. He will be treated the same as every other person with great wealth, people who are in positions of power, or people serving in the police, the army, or the administration, in active duty. He will be considered to be above the law. Anything, and everything will be done to protect him, and them. At all time. Under all circumstances. That is what Little P. was installed to do. And he does it daily. So quit your nonsense. Stop telling lies. You know what will happen, just as we do.

Every time a Thai government agency or senior official comes out to the media to insist that something untoward is not happening or not true, I always take that as a pretty good indication that that's exactly what's happening, contrary to their protestations.

Your 11 days early...it's only March 20th.

Still, it's a good one...

Does it mean every common Somchai, accused of a serious crime, will be allowed to fly to Bangladesh during endlessly extended forensic investigations?

'Pol Gen Sriwara has committed to questioning the suspects himself.'

Over scones and a cup of tea, no doubt.

'Firearms found at Premchai’s home, which have been tracked back to the United Kingdom ...'

Funny how they can track firearms - so they claim - but are unable to keep track of wanted miscreants overseas.

It's called selective tracking

I have a simple outlook, If they say it isn't then it probably is.

Easy enough to prove, there has been plenty of evidence collected and a great deal of it shared with the media. Now take him to court. If he is found guilty through a FAIR trial (or innocent) then this claim can be substantiated. The public, although somewhat cynical after so many con jobs in the past, will be able to decipher the truth.

Indeed, just the routine VIP treatment.

As there was considered to be no risk of his not returning, which proved to be true, why should he have been prevented from leaving?  It doesn't matter if they have a private jet or not, that doesn't affect the risk so why mention it?

The point is, if he wasn't rich and just a local shooting pigeons, he'd probably be in custody now.

Speaking of forensics, I'm really wondering, did they take a stool sample from the guy upon his arrest to help determine/confirm whether he had also eaten the cat in the pot, in addition to perhaps having killed and skinned it???

Of course not, no special treatment for the hi-so..........who would even dream that justice and law are not equal for all in Thailand !!?!!

Re the headline in the OP, once they start using the word "insist", you know it's already a shambles.

I remember the week after the Red Bull boy killing the cop on a m/c, the big boys in the Police Dept at the time using similar phrases. Insist.

Full extent of the law.

Max punishment.

Yada nada bada da bing.

They are full of crap.

Why, do you think that the non-rich don't get the bail option?  That's rhetorical, they do.
