  • No need to hunt for the Yabaa dealer that sold drugs to the bus operator, this is much more important.

Wherever there is a heinous crime, involving those pesky foreigners and guaranteed to generate publicity...there you shall find the nation’s saviour, the one, the only, the mighty big joke.

Oh..you noticed them too?

(Thank Zeus for that)

Some stupidity and a sprinkling of ignorance dont make this girl a criminal. Bring on the big bobby to show his utter contempt for anybody unknowingly insulting things Thais are told to revere

Hunting down female tourists pointing feet in the wrong direction while cop killers go free and people killing wildlife in World Heritage Areas have to be DNA fingerprinted to make a case stick.  Big Joke, exactly!

I feel a gofundme coming on

Amazing Thailand.....More & more....................MS>

The real issue here that this behaviour is deeply offensive to ordinary Thai's and Buddhists. Like climbing on certain statues or buildings in UK or US.

In any country there are limits to behaviour. If you travel, you should respect that countries religious and legal requirements, even if you do not agree. Belittling the protection of religious and ancient landmarks shows a lot of ignorance.

Deflecting, by saying the authorities are not doing this,  or not doing that,  so why do this, is just childish.

Don't forget the ice cubes in the red wine.

Sleep easy citizens...

Nothing about the stupid foreigner then or haven't you noticed one?

Doesn't help covering her eyes.

They will never find her as we all look the same to Thais.

I agree. Sadly most replies here are very childish.

Off topic posts and the replies have been removed.  A post containing profanity has been removed.

Once knew an official (not in Thailand) who's name meant "Oatmeal head", he did not get elected.

The biggest joker is the idiot who painted the sign!  Are those clowns down at the Tourism Bureau aware that internet is available worldwide and the press has an absolute FIELD day over the joke. If Khon Thai wants everyone to follow their rules or stay out then just declare it off limits - see the Vatican or the Kaba in Mekka. The sign and this Hillahooboo over petties is more than ridiculing this country while the same people are wearing borrowed watches by the dozens, hunt black leopards which cook their own tail as soup, murder police officers on duty with Ferraris and the very same people buying three submarines after a naval absence of 55 years.
This country is filled with too many clowns and has regretfully not enough circuses!

You’ll have to explain that point to me.

I am, after all, a foreigner.

The real news here is that it’s not a Chinese tourist for once!

The same fine or prison sentence for killing someone in a road traffic accident “ Crazy “

Catch a foreigner sitting on a ledge or a Thai motorist running a red light?

Fine a foreigner smoking on a beach or an entire Thai family littering up the beach?

Maybe these places should not be tourist attractions to begin with....

And did Buddha not say he was not to be worshipped or revered? It’s a building......

Sometimes Thais can be cute, charming and fun, other times they just need to get over themselves. This is one of the latter times.

Talk about hammer to crack an egg!

Can anyone confirm the Rice Gruel is translated as 'Jok' and not 'Joke' as I may have been writing it incorrectly for months.

I know which I think it the correct spelling in this case.

It is quite often subjective how people perceive the spelling. I think this one is spot on, given the subject matter.

the thing I like about people here is that they do not seem to think that the Thai police cannot walk and chew bubble gum.

I imagine a tourist having a leak on Buckingham Palace champ d;elise. statue of liberty or the front of the Sydney opera house.

These things are not allowed and would not be accepted.  People would be charged and punished.  The same thing goes here.

To be honest the fact that the BIG JOIKE" is taking crime in all it's forms seriously and I AM SURE HIS STAFF is IS A GREAT RELIEF TO this tourist.  I just hope that more officers will take his lead.

While I agree with you on the main point of your post, I don't really think it's fair to compare someone sitting in a place they shouldn't be to someone urinating there. And what do you even mean by the comment about "I am sure his staff is a great relief to this tourist" anyway?

i think everyone just about covered the buffoonery . The Thais never fail to amaze me.

You are right although he has a opinion it is a poor comparison but these are the same guys who take anything negative as bashing Thais and just don't get the big picture. The big picture while Thais love to take our money at these places do not provide a place to sit nor enough garbage cans for example. This same lack of... is why shit is pouring into the bay... roads are breaking apart..etc... while buses are pouring into tourist area's and venues are being built just for them to shop none of the money seems to be going wear it is needed?  Which is the Thai people, education system meaningful items that make the lives of Thais better, instead of spending it all on roads, trains, toll booth to collect more for themselves reall Sad!  isn't it

Wish they put so much effort to get to justice real criminals like red bull scum.

The Thai Superhero aka Big Joke is saving Thailand once again....

Promotion around the corner?

The dinosaurs in charge are watching him and appreciating the distraction.....

โจ๊ก is rice gruel yes but also

โจ๊ก onomatopoeia for the water dripping from a faucet

โจ๊ก adverb for copiously abundantly

And sometimes the transcription of the English word joke joking so the pronunciation is "not far"

So to answer your question the right pronunciation is : "jóok"

As you said not exactly like "joke"  but not "jok"  between the two a bit longer
