DTAC Roaming in USA

Featured Replies

DTAC (which I use in Thailand) has a "roam like home" package for USA - 1 day, 280 baht or 3 day, 840 baht . Anyone here ever use this. Experiences/performance? I just need my data right after we arrive and for a day or two until I get a prepaid local plan. It appears one cannot buy local sim cards at the airport - LAX.  If anyone knows if you can buy a local SIM card at LAX, let me know. DTAC's roaming partner in the U.S. is T-Mobile, so as long as your phone supports their frequencies, you've enabled international roaming and you have coverage, you should be fine. It's worked for me.

DTAC also offers WiFi calling via their DTAC Call app. but this really only facilitates voice calls.

DTAC (and AIS and TrueMove H) also offer traveling SIMs; these are pre-paid...I used one in Hong Kong recently, worked well.

How long will you be in the U.S.? Making a lot of calls? How much data?

T-Mobile and AT&T offer GSM/SIM prepaid services, both directly and via MVNOs, e.g. Simple and Straightalk

You can google tmobile store near LAX, looks like there's 2 relatively close by, another 5 or so within a few miles.

Stores like Walmart, Target, etc. sell SIMs, especially from MVNOs.
