I don't normally believe in a government's ability to solve problems but a noise tax would be one initiative that I'd support 100%. Walking down Bangkok's main thoroughfares you can't even hear yourself talk and much of the blame is due to noisy motorbike engines. Of course, any noise tax should only be applied to especially noisy bikes such as those with aftermarket accessories not factory spec bikes as they don't produce excessive noise when driven normally.
