Veterinary hospital to care for headless cock

A headless fighting cock, found still alive and roaming around a temple in Ratchaburi province this week, will be sent for treatment at the Nakhon Pathom’s Farm Animal Hospital under Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Veterinary Science, provincial governor Chayawuth Chantorn said on Wednesday.

Experts would be asked to treat the cross-breed cock, which was initially released in the grounds of Wat Mahathat Worawihan and was attacked by other chickens and then bitten by a dog until a large chunk of its face, including its beak, went missing.

The cock was left with a rotting tongue dangling from its neck and was unable to eat by itself, so local people fed it, thus keeping it alive.

Chayawuth visited the cock, named Boonma, at the Ratchaburi Animal Hospital in Muang district along with Phra Noppong Thitithammo who found the bird. Phra Noppong said he named it “Boonma” (protected by merit) as it seemed to have undergone a lot of suffering.

Ratchaburi veterinarian Supakdee Aranthong said the cock’s condition had been stable since it was admitted. As its wounds had apparently dried, a veterinarian may have to conduct surgery to remove the rotting tongue. “With proper care and feeding via tube, this cock may live a long time,” she added.

I've never seen such an ugly cock. If it is headless, how can the Thais say it is still sane? A few little blue ones and he'll be good to crow.

"headless cock":shock1:

maybe the animal who attacked it's face, is still wearing it?

Wouldn’t “not Boonma” be more appropriate in this case.

This is cruel, put it down.

Must be a huge market in this: can you imagine how many headless cocks there might be wandering around in Thailand?

The other side of the medal being poor Thai citizens having to cue for weeks, months for a small surgical operation at State hospitals! Oh well, who cares about them anyway...

Can't tell what they might be comparing with, though I have some idea, but: no Thai bashing!

So now they have to rescue the cock.....thai logic...:post-4641-1156694083:

The headline-maker does clearly not know Thaivisa posters......:whistling:

Urgh!

Thais will not euthanize animals (sorry if that's spelt wrong) but they will be very happy to let animals suffer, unless they can eat then E.g. Cows, pigs, Because it's against their religeon. Does not matter how much your pet dog is sufferring, the vet will not put it down

most vets will for the right price and keep it quiet so as not to upset the lesser educated ones

I worked for a company where the head of our division was Mr. Brain.  There were a couple corporate higher-ups with the last name of Cox.  They had more Cox than Brains.

Headless cock!......crazy headline!

I guess nothing to do with teeth braces?.....

Should be on the BBQ.

end of :coffee1:

Maybe Thailand should address the issue of Cock fighting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bah:

Pretty much sums up the tone of the whole thread...

Your statement that Thais will not euthanize animals is a totally incorrect bar stool story.

A headless cock is the best way to stay out of trouble in Thailand.

sealbash,
You are right,
the Thais are not going to euthanize the animals,
they let them suffer.
In a small village, 60 kms from Chiang Mai,
a Thaie left his dog suffer,
for 3 weeks, while her paw was hanging,
  during a car accident.
Excuse: she had no one to take her to the vet.

It's a lobotomised chicken, with certain motor functions and reflexes intact due to the brain stem still functioning, but it's hardly an act of compassion to keep it alive at this point...

If it is your own pet better be prepared to do it yourself if need arises.

It's not easy, I'm telling you.

That beakless cock should be slaughtered.

Save  a Chicken but happily ten of them will kick you to death if you get into an argument with them.
