BANGKOK, 30th March 2018 (NNT) - Kasikorn Research Center (KSC) has maintained its economic growth forecast for Thailand at 4% this year despite US trade barriers.

The KRC claimed even though the US's imposition of tariffs on certain import goods would affect many countries in different ways, the impact would be limited.

China is now facing a 60 billion dollar levy following the introduction of the US's new trade policy which may cause a chain reaction among manufacturers of certain goods in East Asia and Thailand especially those manufacturing electronics and electrical parts.

The center added that Thailand is at risk of being included in the list of US's trade partners attempting to manipulate currencies and could face heavy tariffs.

In spite of the risk, the center maintains Thailand’s economic and export growth at 4% and 4.5% given extensive foreign investment and tourism.
