METV "VALID UNTIL" vs. "ADMITTED UNTIL" Dates?

Featured Replies

Context: I have a METV "VALID UNTIL" end of June. I recently had to do a border run to activate a new 60 day entry, which means according to the stamp, I am now "ADMITTED UNTIL" end of May.

Question: Would the way to maximize my time in Thailand on this current visa be to perform the following sequence of actions?

1. Extend the current entry at the immigration office by thirty days (to avoid doing another border crossing) so that the new "ADMITTED UNTIL" date is at the end of June (which also happens to be the "VALID UNTIL" date of the METV).

2. Then, do a final border crossing right before the end of June (so that I come back into Thailand on June 28th for example if the METV is "VALID UNTIL" June 30th), which then activates another 60 days for the last entry, then making my new "ADMITTED UNTIL" date at the end of August.

3. Then, immediately get a new 30 day extension at the immigration office for this last entry, so that my "ADMITTED UNTIL" date now falls at the end of September.

Will this sequence of events work, or am I misunderstanding anything? I'm in Bangkok so also if anyone can recommend which immigration office location is the best to use for the 30 day extensions (e.g. fastest queues, least likely to create problems), then that would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Will

You have it correct.

If you have an address in Bangkok the only office you can use is the immigration office at Chaeng Wattana.

The "immediately" part may not be possible - that 30-day extension usually only permitted in the last 7 to 10 days of the then-current permitted-stay for Tourist-Visa entries.    Otherwise, the plan looks good.
