SARABURI, 4th April 2018 (NNT) - Local authorities nationwide are gearing up to accommodate and provide safety for holidaymakers ahead of Songkran holidays.

In Saraburi province, a group of local government officials, soldiers, and police officers took to the streets to combat crimes and improve tourists’ safety.

In Chachoengsao province, soldiers, police officers and civil servants visited various places and roadways to prevent criminal activities and road accidents.

A road safety meeting was held in Ranong province among relevant agencies to develop measures to lower the number of road accidents between April 11th - 17th.

In Yala province, the 4th Army Region has instructed related agencies to coordinate with public and private organizations to develop safety measures during the upcoming holidays and accommodate Songkran revelers.

Bus operators and car owners brought their vehicles to the Yala Provincial Transport Office to have them checked before making long journeys.

In Phang Nga province, every district office has been asked to work together to prevent road accidents. They are expected to set up checkpoints in accident-prone areas in addition to other measures to keep road fatalities and injuries to a minimum.

to check how many likes they have on facebook while sitting in the shade of a marquee.

The only safe option is not to be on a road during Songkran!

"are gearing up..."

"visited various places and roadways..."

"to develop measures..."

"has instructed related agencies to coordinate with..."

"has been asked to..."

"expected to set up checkpoints..."

Again, the usual vague utterances of semi-intent, but no real confirmed action. Blah Blah Blah... Better to stay off the roads entirely. Cue the 7 days...

Pull the other one lol

To have possibly they worst safety record in the world, and then to say you are ready, is like trusting a tuk tuk driver to take you to a destination for less than a metered taxi.  Just a lot of talk with no substance.  I do wish that they are right and this is the safest holiday on record.
