OliverKlozerof
I live in Udom Suk, which is in the outer Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. There's a swampy area off my balcony (I'm on the ninth floor), with lots of trees, etc. Recently, I've noticed a bird that sings late after dark and sometimes late into the night. So, just for fun, I stood on my balcony just after 2:00am recently and recorded its interesting song. Any bird people out there who might know what bird is making this sound? With my door closed, it doesn't bother me (unlike the "nok gaw wow" [koel] bird). My sister in the U.S. is a birder and would be fun to tell her what bird does this. Thx. Briggsy
That is a plaintive cuckoo. It is particularly noisy and visible at this time of the year due to mating season. (Do you think it sounds plaintive?) Edited April 4, 2018 by Briggsy
