Two Indian nationals were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly using PayPal accounts linked to other people’s credit cards to buy goods at a Bangkok shop.

Tourist Police deputy commissioner Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpal said Deepak Kumar Khandelwal, 31, and Rohit Luthra, 27, were arrested at Don Mueang International Airport while they were about to board the plane.

They were arrested after a Bangkok shop filed a complaint with police that the two had used PayPal accounts to buy goods worth Bt85,000 at the shop four times but it could not collect money from PayPal.

It was found that the PayPal accounts were linked to other people’s credit cards.

Police seized two mobile phones from the two suspects, which allegedly had photos of 22 credit cards belonging to others.

But indians are such lovely people ! General Sheridan was right on the mark !

I'm confused and there must be something missing here. I use/used paypal, but unless they have your paypal e-mail address and password, you cannot pay by paypal.

They set up their own paypal accounts.

Strange. This is the same photo used in the other thread about 81 foreigners being arrested in nation wide crackdown.

yes, but confirmation would go you your 'real' bank account to proceed with the paypal account when setting up. If you have an on line bank account they would be unable to get the authorization code as they would not have access to your account - only the card, which would be useless without the code from the bank.

You don't need a bank account to set up a paypal account.
