April 16, 20188 yr Fire-ravaged school appeals for donations By The Nation A school head is appealing for help after fire destroyed its main building earlier this month. Wilaiwan Nirutikhun, Director of Ban Dongkaen School in Maha Sarakham's Yang Si Surat district, says donations are urgently needed before the start of the new semester on May 14. Ban Dongkaen lost its main building in a fire on April 3 and Wilaiwan says money is needed for the construction of a semi-permanent building and repairs to its other, 44-year-old dilapidated building, so pupils have classrooms to use when they return to school. The school was in process of applying for state funds to build a permanent building to replace the 38-year-old 12-classroom building that was lost in the fire, Wilaiwan said. So far the school has managed to raise Bt300,000 from donors but it was still insufficient. The school has 92 pupils, from kindergarten age to Prathom 6 level, and requires at least seven classrooms. The school planned to build a semi-permanent building with three classrooms while the other existing building undergoes repairs to its four rooms, she said. It has just received donations of student desks and chairs from another school but it still far short of being able to provide classes. Donations can be made to the Krungthai bank account number 774-0-40308-3 under the name “Donation Fund for Education at Ban Dongkaen School” Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30343241 -- © Copyright The Nation 2018-04-16

TIT I believe, but am not 100% that in many countries the government (schools are the government) don't insure but the government self insures as they have enough properties to spread the risk. I could be wrong but that is what i have read about. Its indeed stupid that the government won't payout quick.. stupid bureaucratie.

Why after 2 weeks are they only in the process of applying. I would have thought they would say applied. I also see no mention here that it is a government school. Just wondering? It is a shame though that it happened. Hope they find a solution.
