Leaving for Nantucket Soon: Gonna Pack my sharp harpoon…

Featured Replies

Dear Folks

Speaking of Nantucket and Harpoons, have you ever been there?

There are plenty of old women, mostly whales, who might fund the rest of my life.

Neigh….!!!

I will not be going to Nantucket solely to conclude my rise in life by sticking it to some old bags.

I am thinking of going to Nantucket to just get away from the noise of Thailand, and enjoy, for a spell, a bit of peace and quiet, with the sound of the surf blowing in my ears.

Have you ever been to Nantucket?

I have.

The surf is rather dangerous, in fact.

You cannot just swim out during a storm, and expect to return.

From what I know about Nantucket, it’s a small island, full of fever.

There has been a remarkable murder there, as you know.

Still, due to the noise outside my house in Thailand, I am at wit's end.

If I cannot find some place quiet, in Thailand, after so many years, then…

Why not try Nantucket?

Being a clam tycoon on Nantucket sounds better to me than what is now happening to me.

I just want a QUIET PLACE.

I have no need of dental floss, these days, which is the least of my worries.

Is there….REALLY any quiet place in Thailand?

I think NOT…..

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: I will be willing to EXPAND upon my meaning, and the IMPORTANCE of QUIET, in case anyone might wish to ask.

I am sick of these motorbikes, and listening to riders fall off them….to kingdom come.

Nantucket is a better place, no matter how small.

Note2:  If I am, finally, unable to find a quiet place in Thailand, then….I am OUT OF HERE…for sure, even though I realize I will always regret the leaving of this superior place.

NANTUCKET.

Note3:  Sometimes, no matter what, the street noise of Thailand gets the better of one, unfortunately.

SUCH A WONDERFUL AND UNFORGETTABLE SONG/EXPERIENCE:

Yes.

I will be Going to Nantucket Soon.

No need to come visit me, though.

Nantucket is out of your price range.

How far from Chiang Mai, center city, does one need to go, just to find a bit of Peace & Quiet?

THIS is the Question.

DOES ONE NEED TO GO....ALL THE WAY TO NANTUCKET....????

Are you sure?

When I was last there, housing was cheap.

Can't go wrong with a bit of Zappa, but thought you might have gone with the Mountain classic here...

Thank you.....

So much.....

TRULY

You know, or if you do not know....

At least....

I know.

I know that the road noise is driving me mad.

Logically speaking, living on a small island, might be better....

From a Traffic Perspective.

YES, Sir.,

I am going to leave Thailand.

WHY?

CACoPHONOUS Traffic Noise.....

aFTER about 50 years in Asia, I can no-longer tolerate the noise.

Give me just a rice field with a water buffalo, any day, and just one egret.

Those days are GONE.....

Or....

Really.

Is there any small plot of land, within about 15 kilometers of center-city Chiang Mai, ....

Which is tranquil and peaceful?

Probably there is no such place, at any price.

Is this correct?

So then, how far must one go in order to achieve peace, in Thailand?

Beyond the grave, perchance?

Amidst all the noise, does anybody stop to think?

Go to Nanfeckit, Martha's Minge-Yard, Lancruster, Mainge, New Humper, Varmint, Hoong Koong or Shumai. Take a train, bus, boat, plane or push bike. All up to you GammaGrunge, nobody here will give two pulls either way. Won't even notice you've gone!

Yes, but I just really wonder....

How did we go from here:

To here:

And, were we ever evolutionarily equipped to live this way?

And, do YOU prefer Quiet....

Or, do YOU prefer the noise of Mumbai, without a spot of Gin?

Just asking.
