Stiff extension socket when inserting a plug

Why is it that some (not all) extension leads have really stiff plug sockets? 

 

I have had instances where I am attempting so hard to push an electricity plug into a socket on the extension, but it just will not go in.

 

I have seen a Thai man having this problem also.

 

However other extension cords are super easy and "normal" allowing me to insert the exact same plug in normally.

 

Couple of questions:

 

1. Has anyone else had this experience?

 

2. Out of curiosity what is the reason for this issue? Is it as simple as some extension leads are poor quality?

Check your plug, some are made for different markets and have a slightly larger pin for the neutral connection. 

Depending on the socket they may or may not be designed to accept these. If not, well.. use more force

I can understand this

You must of have bought a reasonable extension adaptor 

I would put it down to it having built in plastic safety pieces inside 

I have the ones with surge pro. / ect 

Pain to get plugs in & thats just for a 2 pin fan

I had similar problems with an expensive extension. The plastic safety pieces jam in the case.
Forcing the plug in eventually damages the thin brass sockets, resulting in loose connections and replacement.

Accept the fact that everything you buy in this place is crap.  1st worlders are used to stuff that works and lasts a reasonable time.  Manufacturers or assemblers here exercise little quality control.  Expect electrical equipment to not last one year.
