The police chief of Khao Chai Son district in the southern Thai province of Phatthalung has assured the public that no police were involved in the shooting of guns during a wedding procession.

The weapons used were not "war weapons", he said, and could be purchased anywhere.

More than a dozen people - friends of the groom and another group - were shown on Facebook firing into the air and ground to celebrate the wedding of groom Udomdech Rakdam on April 23rd.

The poster on Facebook - Panja Ubonsa-art - bemoaned that weapons like these were available to such people.

Pol Col Surachet Suwannoppamat said Tuesday that contrary to rumors none of his men were involved.

He said that 12 suspects had already turned themselves in and two more - a driver in Isaan and a clothes seller in Bangkok - were on their way to do so.

He said that gun enthusiasts would know that these were not war weapons or assault weapons. They could fire only eight rounds automatically.

The guns are available from regular guns shops anywhere like revolvers and shotguns.

Pictures published by Daily News online showed a veritable arsenal of weapons that were at the wedding.
