Work permit for Dependent O visa holder.

Featured Replies

I am Indian passport holder with a dependent  O visa , as my wife is having a Non B visa would like to know is it

possible for me to get  work permit on "O" visa or  What will be the procedure to change the visa to Non B visa ?

I suspect you now have an extension of stay based upon your wife's extension of stay for being her husband. I am certain your non-o visa has already expired.

Many work permit offices will not accept an application with the type of extension you have. Your potential employer should check with the local office to find out if they will issue one.

You cannot change from a non-o visa to non-b visa within the country. You could change from your current extension to one based upon working at a immigration office if you can get the work permit application accepted.

I am not aware of what the office's policy is in Chiang Rai.

Allmost certainly not. But if they did immigration wouldn’t be happy because your permit to stay is not for the reason of work. If you’re going to work you’re permit to stay needs to be changed, and to do that immigration might insist you exit and re-enter the country with a non ‘B’ visa first.

I suggest you contact Chiang Rai immigration who will adivse what you need to do regarding your permission to stay.
