Used to drink in a  well known sports bar on Suk' where 'boiler room' lads used to drink and openly brag when they'd had a few on a Friday evening of their weekly junk share 'victims'.One cockney lad even tried to  put the hard sell on me one night telling me he could get me into a Karachi based property trust portfolio that offered a' guaranteed 30% yield' for 'parking' my money in there for 18 months. When I told him that the Eastern Suburbs Sydney property market was doing that every 6 months (at the time)and maybe he should get his boss to see me...he didn't know what to say!

That is NOT a part of "Thai authorities" culture! And will never change as long as your butt points to the ground.

I'm surprised that the police chief is not called The Commissioner...

There seems to be an element of commission taking on every sum of money returned.

It is not unknown for property developers (who gives a "guaranteed rental return") to build that cost into the purchase price! Sounds attractive to buyers and there can be no financial loss to the developer if the "rental return" does not stack up. Double dipping?
