Bhum Jai Thai’s current leader, Anutin Charnvirakul, also made an appearance on stage yesterday, and claimed that the mass local gathering had no political agenda. “It’s still too soon to think about it [the election] now. We don’t know yet how many MPs we’ll have,” Anutin said.

You damn right Khun Anutin. Not smart to link yourself and the party to the junta. In the last 2010 election, your party was severely punished for your barrack room alliance with Ahbisit. Rumour had it that you targeted 111 seats with another slime ball Chart Thai Pattana and only got less than 50%. Buriram has only 9 seats which I am sure your party will secure but outside the province, your party will be tested. By all accounts, junta supported parties will not get the majority to block the premiership nomination in the lower house. Eyes still on the Dem and they are the gate keeper.

I hope we all live to see the utter humiliating fall and crash of these tyrannical dinosaurs (except that unlike the Thai junta - Tyrannosaurus Rex, the 'tyrant lizard', did actually possess GENUINE power and courage!).

I don't think it is. I think what looks back at him in the mirror is an autocrat with a strong sense of self-entitlement whose every error can be blamed on the failings of others. Basically a product of the hierarchical system. Even if he was deposed, the General replacing him would likely be more or less exactly the same.

I am sure that when Prayut looks at himself in the mirror, what he (and he alone) sees is a 'very hansum man'!! (Mind you, he is standing next to pig Prawit at the time!).

Never would take you up on a bet with that one. Handsome and cute and witty and powerful. Time to puke now!

All the haters - its not full ok in TH but where is it?

In the freest country of the world the USA? in Russia? In Germany? In where?

At least it had some stability in the last 4 years.

This is TH - You will see what problems arise again after elections.

I believe from not so bad to much worse.

Not only these are not good who buy votes - but also these who let their votes be bought. ?

Newin on the other hand - made a lot of good for his Buriram province in a dead border corner of Thailand.

However he accomplished that - he made positive influences for the now more proud Buriram folks.

I was there, I felt it I saw it.

The result justifies the means. ?

You might be right, that's possible. I guess we'll see. Personally I don't credit the man with having enough nous or wit to win an election, by fair means or foul. I think he is one of nature's losers. I guess we'll see about that as aell.

Notice how in so many pictures Prayut is always flashing up the 'devil's horns' symbol with his fingers. Quite appropriate, of course: he comes from hellish realms - and will doubtless return there!

Yes, something he copied from Thaksin and I'll wager he doesn't know from whence it really came.

The man's a complete dullard, an oaf on his best day.

He may be the 'ultimate hypocrite' but he's a hypocrite with power...and we foreigners won't be voting. The only people that seem to be risking jail etc. are a few brave students. 'Mia Ben Rai, Mai Dtong Khit Man Ja Jop Dai Dee, It doesn't matter, don' think about it. It will all end well' is all I hear where I live.

Yep, me too.

You gotta hand it to Thais, thick as pudding but with an unwavering belief in Buddhism and karma.

No point banging your head against a wall, they won't change this side of hell freezing over, I believe they lack the capacity for sensible change.

Hmmm. It would be pretty stable if he cut off everyone's arms., legs and tongues too, but is that really the way to go?

Maybe it is. If he did that, at least the motorcycle racers would stop.

Vote buying has been assessed to have had no influence on elections, but junta appointing MP's has legalized vote buying, now haven't they ?  They have created another huge ethical problem.  Why does the junta get free seats in parliament and nobody else does ?  Is vote buying now unethical given a partially appointed parliament ?  If so, why?  Because the army says so ?  The army now decides what is right ?

You are correct.  Buriram is proud.  My Buriram friends are very very proud and very very broke.  Would not be surprised if he has something to do with the new "Cambodian" border casino there too, but how does that and a football club help the average Thai ?   If you were more than just a casual visitor there, you might have heard an earful that might have changed your sunny outlook on autocracy.

Maybe you'tre right. Personally, though not religious in the accepted sense, I believe in the cosmic 'checks and balances'.

At least I think I do. I see a dark future for this miscreant.

Actually they don't need a majority to block an elected PM election.. On the one hand it will be easy to block any attempt to build a yellow tainted coalition around the Dems. On the other hand, the only way PTP can hope to get a majority coalition is if the new democratic parties can take a significant share of the previous electoral base of the Dems. Another option would be a Dem-PTP coalition but I doubt they would do it.

No justification in selling ones democratic values for a racing circuit or an airport. There are things more valuable than material gains like freedom of expression and universal suffrage and definitely respect of the people choice of leaders. By the way, who gets to gain more with these infusion of baht but Newin and his rich associates.

Just imagine if Chidchob were to be diagnosed with prostate cancer tomorrow. I wonder how fast his sense of priorities would change.

I don't wish that on anyone of course, but it might provide some fleeting entertainment. Prawit's old, he's no challenge. Perhaps I'll have a word or two with my mojo - get it working on Chidchob, that seems like a worthy cause.

Got your point. Junta allies in Parliament need not have the majority to creat an impasse on premiership. PTP will win but not a clear majority unless they take seats from the Dem and BJT. Without a clear majority, getting 251 approvals for the PM is touch and go; depend much on the Dem. The conclusion still the same; Dem holds the key well unless they lost significant seats to upstarter FFP. They likely to thwart Prayut dirty attempt to get the appointed senators involved and vote with PTP in Parliament.

I saw what he did for Buriram. He has certainly made great changes there. I also saw him step away from politics (perhaps that was only an image). So, perhaps misguidedly, I thought he would not be bought by the likes of Prayuth. But ultimately he has proved that adage that a leopard never changes its spots.

At Thunder Castle, Newin Calls On Prayuth To Rain Money

By Teeranai Charuvastra, Staff Reporter

BURIRAM — Junta chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha has been presenting his everyman credentials on in eastern Thailand this week: riding motocross, promising to build a sports hub and discussing past rivalries on a topic of local passion – football – to the stadium cheers of 30,000 people.

“When I was the chairman of the Army United FC, whenever we competed with Buriram, we always lost,” Gen. Prayuth told the audience Monday, his body wrapped in the kind of waist sashes favored locally. “I still harbor this vengeance! But sports is sports. When I couldn’t beat you in a fight, all I could do was to keep trying.”

Feel sorry for the South. Did all the heavy lifting to get him into power and he is throwing money only to the North. Hope the South finally realized that they have been used by a conman working for the junta and turn on him and the Dem in the coming election.

You compare the current Thai situation with Hutus and Tutsi conflict or how Belgium reigned in Congo long ago - far fetched. ?
