Ex-MPs and senators in North, Northeast ‘considering joining’ pro-junta party

A huge crowd gathers at a Buri Ram stadium to welcome Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha during his recent visit to the northeastern province.

At least 24 former MPs and senators in the North and Northeast have “shown their interest” in joining a pro-junta political party, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The source, who asked not to be named, said on Monday that the politicians were considering whether to defect to the Palang Pracha Rath Party, which is believed to support Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha for his possible return to power after the next general election.

Most of the ex-MPs and senators are from the northeastern provinces of Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Amnat Charoen, Nong Bua Lamphu, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Bueng Kan, Yasothon, Udon Thani and Chaiyaphum, according to the source, while at least two are from the North – one from Chiang Rai and another from Mae Hong Son.

They are from a number of parties, including Bhum Jai Thai and the previously ruling Pheu Thai, which won most of its MP seats from the North and Northeast in earlier elections.

Pirom Pholwiset, a former Bhum Jai Thai MP for Nakhon Ratchasima who is expected to defect to the pro-junta party, said on Monday that he was going to join a new party that had a good strategy for solving the country’s problems and developing the country.

“The party does not rely on political financiers, unlike in the past,” the politician said, alluding to Palang Pracha Rath although he did not identify the party in question.

“I believe this party will certainly provide hope and can be relied on by the Thai people,” he added.

It Doesn't matter, I'll suck a political "Rocket Popsicle" if it is the only way to get ahead. The Thai education system never taught me morals or scruples. So there you have it. Oh, I forgot to mention my parents.

I wonder if they'll change their 'allegiance' on the eve of the election to anti Prayuth thus avoiding any 'intimidation' during the run up.

You could get a spanking for that.

Join the Junta and get your cut of the cake.

I live here in the North/North East and these leeches will suck on any thing if it makes them money,  It's sickening the see them grovel and bow. Basically they will lower themselves to anything as long as they get a piece of the pig pie. They disgust me ... all of them.

Yes it seems that the North and NE of Thailand did not learn from the bought votes

of the last 2 Billionaire leaders, a sad lot..  I just hope there are enough people of

these two areas that will vote for a true democracy, and not another corrupt

and purchased government. Hope I can still say my own humble opinion..

Geezer

Hmm...

An interesting tale about Senators and MPs who are 'showing their interest' in joining the Junta party according to an unnamed 'source'. I think we all should get used to these kinds of stories as I suspect that we are seeing the opening salvos of the Military Psy-Ops campaign in support of the Junta and its supporters, and we are going to see lots more "unnamed" sources speaking up.

I remember as a kid many, many years ago reading a story about an ancient Indian Warlord who had a unique method of acquiring new territory and subjects. I can't vouch for its truthfulness; it was long ago and I simply do not remember where I read it.

The Warlord would send an elephant to the various villages bedecked in the finest of jewels, cloths, body-work, ornaments, etc. The Elephant would have a platform/dais on its back, and on the platform/dais would be a single bejeweled shoe. The message was clear; the Warlord was so superior, so great, so fantastically good that any and all resistance was futile and the village should join the Warlord's kingdom without a fight. And many did.

Great story, eh?

What we are seeing is something similar from the Junta/Military/Prayut.

"24 former Senators and MPs" showing their interest in joining the military/Junta/Prayut!!!

"Join now or risk being left behind!!!"

"Look! See who is joining the Military/Junta/Prayut!"

"Join NOW!!!' "

"Don't get left behind; you will lose out!"

Yet, all I see is an old shoe. Metaphorically speaking.

Nation, if you cannot provide some names of the "24 former Senators and MPs" who have "shown their interest" in joining the Junta party, then you should not print the story.

It is both nonsense and garbage.

To be specific, the "donations" from the Thai Niyom slush fund courtesy of Thai taxpayers. The junta trough is getting longer and wider to indulge more greedy snouts.

The financial future looks temporarily bright for those immoral home town heroes (ex political losers) joining the team of the self appointed leader. The value of trust in this government is nought. They should expect to be discarded later like a piece of Thai trash.

Here we have the story of Animal Farm being played out in real life.

Prayut try go shopping!

Money not buy love!

It is against common sense to throw your hat in the ring with people who have just come out and said they achieved nothing in four years.   On top of that, they refuse to debate and dislike things like scrutiny, free speech and the common Thai.  It is absolutely sickening.

But your location says Dubai. Hey! maybe you're close to the man himself.

The problem is we are farang and we don't really understand Thai politics.lol.i think most Thais ain't really got a clue about politics and what a party's agenda is.i think they vote because they idolise a man with big money and business like thaksin or yinluck because they wished they had a daughter like her.if this report is true all it tells me is they've sold themselves out because they are scared of being left behind and losing their positions on the ladder and the goodies that come with it.these mp and senators are supposed to be for democracy but sod that lets join the jaunta and makes some serious money.right prawat ring your man and order me 24 rolexes because we've got 24 new boys wanting a piece of the action.im not a very political man but even I can see this one if it's true.

Considering that the PT P is very likely to be dissolved shortly before elections, it is not an irrational decision to leave it. :coffee1:
