BANGKOK, 16 May 2018 (NNT) - Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Ministry of Commerce showed their latest projects to Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha before the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Ministry officials gave a demonstration on the benefits of the Big Data system. Gen Prayut was briefed on how information within the system can be processed and presented to users by artificial intelligence. It can help the country plan more effective tourism campaigns, produce accurate weather forecasts and manage air traffic to name just a few.

Gen Prayut wanted Big Data to be used to improve the lives of Thai people and facilitate public services. He also stressed the need to promote the 12 must-see cities through social media campaigns as a way to increase the popularity of community-based tourism.

The Ministry of Commerce also announced, ahead of the cabinet meeting, the launch of the upcoming ‘Thailand’s Amazing Durian and Fruit Festival 2018’. Commerce officials also showed Cabinet members a Kanyao durian which costs 20,000 baht and a 5,000 baht Monthong durian.

The festival will be held at Central World from May 18th to 23rd with the aim of promoting Thai fruits in the global market. Visitors can enjoy a one-hour durian buffet for 459 baht.
