Water levels at 5 major dams in Nakhon Ratchasima continue to rise due to continuous rain

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 21 May 2018 (NNT) - The water levels at five major dams in Nakhon Ratchasima have continued to rise due to continuous rain, relieving future drought concerns. 

Mr Chidchanok Somprasert, director of the 8th Irrigation Office, said the volume of water at the five dams including Lam Takhong, Lam Mun Bon, Lam Sae, Lam Phra Phloeng and Lam Plai Mat as of May 19th totaled of 527 million cubic meters. 

Lam Takhong Dam in Si Khiu district now has about 115 million cubic meters of water, or 42 percent of the full capacity of 275 million cubic meters; Lam Mun Bon Dam in Khon Buri district has 74 million cubic meters, or 53 percent of the 141 million cubic meters capacity; Lam Sae Dam in Khon Buri district has 115 million cubic meters, 42 percent of the 275 million cubic meters capacity; Lam Phra Phloeng Dam in Pak Thong Chai district has 101 million cubic meters, 66 percent of the 155 million cubic meters capacity; and Lam Plai Mat Dam in Soeng Sang district has 64 million cubic meters, or 66 percent of the 98 million cubic meters capacity. 

He said the overall water situation in the province is better than last year. However, rain intervals between June-August are still of concern.
