Two dollar bills rejected

Featured Replies

I have just spent 5 days in Siem Reap and observed that 2 usd dollar notes are not accepted by some bars/restaurants. This seems contrary to the situation years ago when in Vietnam I found that people used to collect these notes due to their scarcity and appeal.

What is the reason for this rejection?

Im in phnom penh and have never seen a $2 note, so you are right about the rarity part

i didnt know 2 dollar bill exist so i would have rejected them too

Ditto

I've had them rejected in the US because the clerk didn't know they existed either.

You think that you had problems , I had a US$ 250 dollar bill and couldnt change it anywhere

I know them since two minutes and reading about their rarity in the WiKi:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_two-dollar_bill

Not a surprise that they would be rejected at some bars/restaurants.

I'll give you 6 dollars (will you accept 2,  3 dollar bills?)
