Three businessmen from the Republic of Marshall Island have filed a complaint with police that their rented house was broke into and their valuables and cash worth Bt12 million stolen.

The three filed a complaint with the Lat Phrao Police Station on Saturday morning, claiming the incident took place on Friday night.

They claimed their safe box was piled open and five gold necklaces worth Bt3 million, five more gold necklaces with jade pendants worth Bt300,000, 28 Rolex watches worth Bt4.2 million, a Buddha amulet with gold necklace worth Bt5 million, and US$4,000 (Bt120,000) in cash were stolen.

They were staying at a rented house in the Lat Phrao area of Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district. They said they left the house at 7.30pm on Friday for a business and returned to find their house had been broken into.

Police have yet to check fingerprints and footage from security cameras in the area to conduct an investigation.

It would be interesting to read what these individuals were doing with all those valuables left in a cheap safe in a rented apartment. 28 Rolex watches maybe of interest to a certain individual?

If only they had kept their assets in traditional Micronesian stone money, they still would be there, no doubt. And no need for a safe either...

A Micronesian investigation where they soon find out that they didn't have a work permit? ?

If you're going to buy a safe, buy an expensive one.

Something not right about this,

had they stayed prior, or been flashy, just so lucky that this rented house was targeted by the thieves,

inside number by one of the three,?

You believe them....:cheesy:

There is only one reason you would keep this amount of valuables in your house, you didn't exactly come by them honestly but still stupid. There must be some good safe boxes in Thailand? I know my ex wife had a box in our bank and had no problems.

The bashing of the rich seems to have taken over......

And strangely enough, me too, had my crown jewels, tiara and scepter stolen last week from our rented house and kept in a tin can we use to call a safe...

Doesn't the door on the safe look like it was damaged after the door was open?

Good to see TV formidable forensic detectives are onto this one! ?

Yes it does, maybe they had left it open and they had trouble closing it? ?

Why?  Is possessing valuable items some kind of offence and what do you see as the relevance of your mentioning that the apartment was rented?  What sort of accommodation do visiting businessmen usually stay in if not rented?

Very good question. My comment was not so much questioning their choice of accommodation or indeed the fact that they had left 12 million bahts worth of valuables in the house. Their choice of security was what caught my attention.

Most businessmen would have opted for a decent hotel with better security. IMHO of course.

Why would they do that when there is no requirement to do so?

Nah, if they’d done that the items would have been stolen at point of entry.

Have 3 individuals & 28 Rolex watches!!

Perhaps they borrowed them from a certain friend !!

Borrowing watches seems to happen a bit here in Thailand!!

I feel for them.

Luckily for me my 127 Rolex watches are safely stowed under my bed. And i take them all with me on every holiday also.

3 Individuals & 28 Rolex watches!!

Seems to happen quite a bit here in Thailand...

Why have they got 28 Rolex watches?

Why are they leaving them in an easy to open unsecured place?

Who knew they were staying there and what attracted the burglar     specifically to them in the first place?

For me, it’s an insurance scam or sheer stupidty.
