BANGKOK, 28 May 2018, (NNT) - Thailand's Prime Minister has suggested that Thai citizens adjust to the nation’s five percent economic growth and instructed all related units to assist people in catching up with the world's new technologies.

Relaying Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha's message, Government Spokesperson Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd told the media that the premiere is pleased with the Kingdom’s 4.8% economic growth in the first quarter of 2018, which is a clear indication of Thailand’s continuous growth.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the growth will result in increased employment, higher cash flows and more trade. He stressed that the government prioritizes the well-being of low and medium income earners, who make up the majority of the Thai population.

General Prayut then underlined the essential role of technology in shaping society, saying residents should pay attention to the possibility of technology replacing human labor. General Prayut said that the career security of each individual may very well depend on their understanding of new technology and how it relates to their profession.

He expressed his desire for Thais to be able to adapt to new technology, saying it is important for the younger generation, in the Thailand 4.0 era, to familiarize themselves with technological advancements. The premier further stated that people of working age should also improve their technological skills and learn to implement various innovations in their work effectively.

According to the Government Spokesperson, Gen. Prayut has instructed concerned agencies, particularly the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, to work together to close the social gap.

How about the government adjust as well with the growth rate not matched since 2013 with another increase in the minimum daily wage, ie., Bt400? Surely such a raise will incentivise businesses to make employees more productive.

Pity only certain people benefit from this growth, 95% of the population don't

And that, unfortunately is the Thai conundrum. How to be happy that someone else is getting obscenely rich and you're getting disgustingly poor. And one has to be happy because it's all a part of someone's plan and we've been taught to worship that someone.

So we do.

And we are...

Yes, I am afraid Thais are very accepting people. Getting like the serf and master system in England in the middle ages. This happened in Cuba in the 1950s where only a certain number of the population had everything and the rest were so poor. Hence along came to Castro promise the people they would share in the wealth and he was in power. But as you say it seems like the Thais think its great that some people are just making a fortune and they are so poor.

So I guess there won't be any Castros In Thailand but you never know. How far can you drive people down before they say enough? Every human mind has a breaking point.

Work with Thais for years in Technology.  Heard "great idea, but do not do it in Thailand" so often, I just gave up.  My friend's Thai wife explained what would happen if I opened up a business and it became successful.  The hoops and bribes were just too much to deal with.

Yep you would need a carton of brown envelopes.

Asking people to learn themselves instead of improving education~typical

While agreeing with you, at the moment learning themselves is the only way to progress. That's assuming the kids can find an opportunity somehow, are keen and have an aptitude for learning. Not easy I know.

Well appearently they are self-learning in the Isan now. What with the rain not coming, and fuel prices going up it is one unhappy lot up there. There is a lot of talk, and a storm is a'brewing. Thing is, since everybody and his uncle has a smartphone now they are not backward anymore: they are up to the times, AND selflearning, possibly to the detriment of Prayut...

Try explain to the poor farm workers on 300baht a day that if they are lucky their wages will increase a massive 15 baht a day, or is he only addressing those who already are wealthy.
