Acquiring Visa in Japan

Featured Replies

I'm curious if anyone has experience doing this as a non Japanese citizen. Specifically the 180 day metv. I'm aware of the general process having received one at home in the US last year. Either type of tourist visa acquiring from Japan would be interesting to know about though. There is some vague wording regarding time to issue for non Japanese citizen.

The METV is generally only available in your home country or country of residence.

I doubt you’ll get one in Japan unless you’re Japanese or resident.

For non-Japanese applicant, a copy of residence card or certificate of alien registration which is valid at least 3 months or more.

They offered it in Greece. Maybe that is atypical.

My memory might be foggy....lol. anyway....maybe I can get a 60 there. Just curious about processing time.

There have been many reports that non residents cannot get a Thai single entry tourist visa in Japan. I had a conversation with someone recently who said the embassy in Tokyo would issue an SETV if you had a Japanese guarantor, but I am frankly skeptical.

Well that's inconvenient. Thanks for the info.
