Is Chitpas poor enough to qualify for bail assistance?

The Justice Ministry has given prominent former anti-government protester Chitpas “Tant” Kridakon until June 11 to explain why she qualifies for bail assistance, given her family’s wealthy status.

The family reportedly disowned Chitpas when she was among leaders of People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) rallies against the Yingluck Shinawatra government in 2013.

Chitpas submitted a request for bail assistance to the Justice Fund on May 28, the ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, Thawatchai Thaikhiew, said on Thursday.

Pointing out that the fund was established primarily to reduce social inequality by ensuring equal access to justice for poor and low-income people facing prosecution, Thawatchai said Chitpas had until June 11 to prove she qualifies for aid.

Chitpas and other core PDRC members were indicted earlier this year on eight criminal charges, including treason and terrorism, for their role in the so-called “Bangkok shutdown” protest of 2013.

Sickening!

I remember her well.

She, even more than Suthep, spewed real vitriol, and really dumbed down the population in the North and NE.

Buffalos, too uneducated to vote etc etc...

People don't forget, and to this day Leo beer sales have never recovered.

What was the no. 1 seller in the villages and market towns pre 2014, nobody drinks it anymore.

 Brilliant I say.

Still, her good comrade ol' Suthep should be able to dig into his pockets and help out.

Where did all those funds and contributions go anyway?

Perhaps she could sell some of her expensive clothes and jewelries that she flaunt in photos from her twitters account. She also has salary as the Dem Party deputy spokesperson. Poor she is not. Just trying to seek some cheap publicity and trying to blend in with the peasants that she berated in those ugly PDRC days.

GoFundMe?

I am shocked that Uncle Twostep Thaugsuban has not offered the young lady moral and financial support.

This action of hers is colloquially known as "taking the piss".

I remember the venom-spewing vixen as well, and not fondly.

If ever there was a textbook example of a "stupid little rich girl", she would be it. Does anyone really believe that the members of the PDRC actually paid attention to what she said (as opposed to other members of her family, perhaps) or did they merely enjoy viewing her backside? Does anyone see her as a genuine 'revolutionary' as opposed to a stupid little rich girl who acted as window-dressing for a pack of lizards?

Does she deserve government monies to pay for her bail? No. Sell some of your jewelry if you want to walk free.

If she doesn't go to jail as she deserves (and being connected, likely won't), then she should disappear into one of Daddy's companies, never to be seen or heard from again.

She epitomizes everything that is wrong in Thailand.

Yuck.

Don't you mean Singha?

But on to business: Why would you post bail using your own money when you can use the public purse? Especially if you were considering bailing on the bail...

Think your getting a bit carried away there, all shops stock it where I am out in the sticks in Khon Kaen province.

They stock it sure. Here's just a small example;

pre 2014 a mon'n'pop shop might stock 12 cases of Leo and 4 cases of Chang and 1 case of Singha.

2018 and that same shop stocks 2 cases of Leo, 1 case of Singha and 14 cases of Chang.

Pretty much the same all over Isaan.

No, Leo is made by the Singha company.

Superb description.

I also remember her doing an interview at the time in her pretty damn good English (educated abroad naturally...) to a foreign tv company and her remarks to the interviewer and to anyone watching who had had a basic western education were pretty astounding...

@Thaiguzzi,

You might be right but their turnover does not have suffered too much I could be wrong though  according to Wiki Boon Rawd makes Singa and their sales have not been going down (just last year so not really like you present it) Their profit has gone down but popularity is based on turnover profit is influenced by other stuff.

But as I said I could be wrong because I don't know what else Boon Rawd produces.

Boon Rawd

  • 2012 – Income : 98,990 million baht profit : 3,115 million baht
  • 2013 – Income : 105,563 million baht profit : 3,256 million baht
  • 2014 – Income : 113,897 million baht profit : 2,915 million baht
  • 2015 – Income : 116,548 million baht profit : 2,310 million baht
  • 2016 – Income : 104,794 million baht profit : 770 million baht

Yes, awful how those vastly wealthy elites dripping in jewels and designer handbags try and pretend they're just average people and blend in with the poor when it suits.

What's worse is they really expect to fool everyone!

Actually those pretenders are easy to spot out. Especially those foul mouths who talk down on the peasants and then try to re-invent themselves and be like them. Can’t fool me for sure.

Yes, you wouldn't be fooled by some clearly very very wealthy person acting like they're one of the common folk. Nor would you believe some of the nonsense that they spout.

But some do. And that's why they keep doing it for as long as they can.

Got to say that some even try wearing farmer blue shirt and ngob but the big giveaway was when he started kissing the frog. Can’t fool me. ?

Her father's company make Singha and Leo beer amongst a bunch of other stuff, inc liquor, that i'm not really interested in finding out what, nor can I be arsed.

What I do know, though, is the changing beer tastes up here since 2014, especially amongst the women.

Shinga and Leo are both made in Boon Rawd so unless their other stuff has been soaring in sales the effect your talking about is maybe real local because it does not seem to make much impact at all (turnover has only grown). Unless of course those in the south so in awe of that spoiled brat putting down the northerners have increased their consumption to make up for it (just joking).

I think what your describing is either tainted in your eyes or I am missing some crucial data on something that is generating a lot more turnover then before. Both options are possible.

Must be terrible being so hard up you can only manage one safari in the Serengeti, two trips to London and one to Hollywood in a year - maybe she should tidy up he instagram account before pleading poverty.

One way to increase profit is to  reduce alcohol content from 6.5%  5% ,reduce  the volume of beer in the bottle from 630 to 620 ml and simultaneously put the price up by 10 baht per bottle.

A truly odious, nauseating, grotesquely ugly inside creature.  Never come across a person that's a more disgusting exponent of the born-to-rule class, an anachronism from pre-modern times.  She gets the benefit of international schools, university in the UK, and then returns to Thailand still acting like she's a god.

Shame is an emotion unknown to her.  After the coup she's been in the news several times, starting with the provocative fancy dress party in green in poverty-ridden Thonglor days after the coup, the announcement she got a spokeslizzard position with the police bypassing all hiring procedures, giving a commencement speech at Chulalongkorn, and now this.

Today I was for the first time wondering if she is good ol' SC2014 (Singha Chitpas?) from the BP comment section.  Whoever that disturbed person is he/she has some pull.  Any first-world paper would ban such a troll after a few posts.  Instead, maybe 1 in 5 of my comments went in when I still posted there (pretty sure I got banned for using apostrophies as in "khun" Veera), and this troll seems to get free running of the comment section, sometimes having more than half of comments, and none anything other than troll posts.  Long shot, but it would be in line if it's her.

Actually it's SC2015. What strikes me, about SC2015 and Renaissance, is that they don't realise they can only harm the cause they try to defend by their stupid posts in the BP.

Wonder the courts will be a touch more understanding/deferential if she puts the Na Ayudhya suffix back on.

Indeed, like some of the other posters chided SC2015 as being paid by "the fugitive in Dubai" because the comments are so obnoxious they just amount to an own goal in the bigger picture.  Not that incompetence ever got a hiso fired, if my speculation is true.  It would also fit with her role as a spokeswoman for the so-called Democratic Party.  Long shot though, I know.  It's just that the SC and reading that story gave me a brainwave this morning.

Could even be the dynamic duo of Suthep and Chitpaz. They worked well together and she now secretary of that Great Mass of Sh.... oops sorry People Foundation.
