DPM Wissanu: Local election laws 90% complete

 

 

BANGKOK, 8th June 2018 (NNT) - A deputy prime minister in charge of legal affairs has confirmed significant progress in the drafting of laws governing local and provincial elections. 

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Wednesday that all six local and provincial election laws are currently being reviewed by the Council of State and that there are quite a few changes that need to be made to bring them into line with the draft Election of Members of Parliament Act. 

Mr. Wissanu said it remains unknown when local elections will be organized or whether they will happen before the general election. 

The Deputy Prime Minister expects the Council of State to return all six draft laws to the government before the end of this month for submission to the National Legislative Assembly.

Concerning the lifting of the ban on political activities, Mr. Wissanu said the National Council for Peace and Order has been working on all related matters.

Let me guess. They will delay national elections by organising local elections before! ?

'Mr. Wissanu [one of the billions of Thai 'deputy prime ministers'] said it remains unknown when local elections will be organized or whether they will happen before the general election.'

 

And only yesterday they were saying that local elections would be held this year. 

 

When will the Thai people get well and truly sick of all this prevarication, lying, and B.S.? I've heard of the patience of a saint, but -  my Goodness - the Thais go beyond that. Nothing will shake them out of their political lethargy and coma.

 

Oh well. It's their land - and it is the destiny that, with each passing day, they are allowing to be created for themselves. Don't start whingeing and whining, Thais, next year if you don't get your little fake election or if, magically, Prayut continues (in some form or other) as the de facto leader of Thailand. The writing has long been on the wall - inscribed in Himalayan-size letters. But you, Thais, can't be bothered enough to read it - or to act on what it is shrieking -  'ACT NOW!' -  into your ears and eyes ...
