PATTAYA:--Pattaya has sealed off a waterfront access road adjoining the Baan Sukhawadee tourist attraction as repairs are made to fix damage caused by tour buses.

Engineering Department inspector Maruth Uthaiwattananon had a fence erected at the openings of the Kratinglai waterfront road, which had been zoned a public walkway and access road, but had been taken over by huge coaches, massively damaging the road surface.

The blockade will remain until workers repair and resurface the road. After that, only motorbikes and passenger cars will be allowed.

The roadworks are only part of the extensive deconstruction being done at the ostentatious mansion on Sukhumvit Road owned by the head of poultry giant Saha Farms.

In January, 11 of Sukhawadee House’s 80 rai of land were deemed to be public land, including landfill reclaimed from the sea. The land included gardens and salas and was encircled by a fence. A wall, now being removed, also blocked access to Banglamung Soi 8.

In February, Saha head Panya Chotitawan agreed to demolition of all the infringing structures, which constituted 13 percent of his tourist attraction.
