Big Joke shows how not to win the lottery! Fraudster arrested as "Black" hunted

Crime buster Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal has popped up again - this time announcing the arrest of a Kalasin woman on a charge of altering lottery ticket numbers and bar codes.

There are thought to be more than 100 victims in an eleven year crime spree with a shadowy figure called "Ai Dam" (nasty Mr Black) behind the scenes.

Arrested yesterday on a warrant for fraud and using false documents was Bunlong Chuaysanit, 38.

Using fake Thai ID she presented what appeared to be genuine winning lottery tickets.

Middlemen who fell for the con paid her between 20,000 and 40,000 baht for the realistically looking fake tickets.

But when they went to the government lottery office to claim the prizes they were told they were fakes.

Bunlong - arrested at a rented apartment in Minburi, northern Bangkok - said she was paid 14,000 baht if she got 40,000 for a ticket.

The money came from a Nai Dam (Mr Black) who Daily News referred to as "Ai Dam" in their report.

He is a 60 year old man who has been behind the swindle since 2007. He is being hunted as the inquiry widens.

The crimes were committed in Bangkok and surrounding areas.

Maj Gen Surachet - the deputy commissioner of theTourist Police Bureau - said that the fakes were good and fooled many traders who then made complaints to the authorities when they realized they had been duped.

Time to enter the 1990's and have online lottery sales.

However certain connected families who control the wholesale of lottery tickets might not be happy.

Can someone please help me out here.........Somebody comes to you with what appears to be a winning ticket, for say, 1 million Baht. Offers to sell the said ticket for 20 to 40 K Baht. How can anyone in their right mind think this is genuine......or is it simple greed clouding the vision.

On another thought the end of the article says Traders were angry at being duped, so, were they selling fake tickets to sellers at a knock down price? Said sellers then going to complain to the police about the tickets they knowingly obtained illegally to pass on to the unsuspecting public........?

Presumably if Big Joke hadn't arrived on the scene it would have gone on for another eleven years.......or more. The RTP as such is an even bigger joke.

They sell the tickets to the vendors for 3% less than the actual win.

Standard procedure.

See in the recent news that training to be a detective now has changed from 3 months to 12 weeks. If it wasn’t true, it would be funny!!!
