Where To Go For 12 Day Honeymoon In Thailand

Featured Replies

We are planning on taking our honeymoon the beginning of April to Thailand and are trying to get organized of where to go since it is coming up quickly. We are traveling from the US and are in our late 30's. We are into beaches, nightlife (but not a crazy spring break scene), and some cultural sights. Can anyone make some suggestions. Currently are ieas are maybe Bangkok, Ko Samui, and Phuket. Any advice would be helpful.

Well, that's what you get for jumping the gun on the wedding night. :o

Phuket's nice and you could go across to Samui from there for a few days, the hotel will arrange a mini bus or car.

:o Look I dont' want to pee on your fire, but do you have any idea how hot it will be then?

Good time of year....Song Khran the Thai new Year Water festival on around 13 to 15th but spills out into the days either side. Chiang Mai is traditionally the best place for Song Khran as it is a river festival. Rainy season starts around then too.

To the Missus - You might want to take your husband to Soi 6 Pattaya...not very salubrious but it will at least confirm or undermine your husband's fidelity

Phuket.... very peaceful and if you want busy nightlife, not far to travel. Plus heaps of things to do.

I just got back from a 12 day honeymoon in Thailand myself, and had a wonderful time! Bangkok is wonderful if you do a little research and find out all it has to offer. You can have a very upmarket experience for a lot less than in the States. We stayed at the Shangri-La on our first leg, which was heaven! On our return to Bangkok, we stayed at Siam @ Siam Design hotel (cheapest at Asiarooms.com) which is a new, hip hotel close to the skytrain for easy access. Both hotels gave us an upgrade since it was our honeymoon. I would reccomend several days in Bangkok to see temples, hit the night market near Lumpini Park, etc.

Koh Samui was great with lots to do. Tango Beach Resort was nice. The only thing that we didn't like, is that it's all set up for western tourists (as is Phuket), so it loses the "Thai" feeling. Also, the beaches were not that great for swimming. The water is either shallow, or choppy, and since it is sand - not very clear. Instead, we hopped a catamaran to Koh Tao and stayed at the Charm Churee Villa - which was exactly what you think of when you think of "Tropical Paradise"! Clear, green water - lots of beautiful fish and coral to snorkel around. It was extremely romantic, and the staff was super friendly. (Tell Thak hello from Kim & Edo if you go!)

Whatever you do, I'm sure you will love it! Thailand is truly amazing. Congrats on your marriage.
