webfact Posted June 21, 2018 Share Posted June 21, 2018 Intelligent robot Sophia will debut in Bangkok By Thai PBS Sophia, the first intelligent robot to be given citizenship from Saudi Arabia, will be presented at the Manufacturing Expo 2018 in Bangkok. The goal of bringing Sophia to Thailand is to demonstrate to Thai industrialists that artificial intelligence can work harmoniously with humans which can help reduce some production process. It is also intended to encourage Thai industrialists to shift to automation in their production process. Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. She made her public appearance at South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas in mid-March 2016.
