Hi.

Did a lot of reading on ThaiVisa and it seems like all we need to do when we have a valid five year Thai drivers license it to show up and the Transport Department with a police report and pay a fee and we can get a replacement drivers license issued.

However, today I was at the Chonburi DLT with my passport, police report (of lost motorcycle license) and my valid five year Thai car drivers license and they refused to issue me a replacement  motorcycle license unless I also had a certified address / residency certificate.   This seems like a terrible waste of time since all the information on my Thai car drivers license is valid with an address on the back.  So why do the officials at DLT demand a "proof of address" letter to just get a duplicate motorcycle when I have a police report saying it was lost?

Is this the "new standard" when getting a lost drivers license replaced?

Thanks

Hmmm.

OK.  Just good off the phone the the DLT and they said I have to have a new address certificate (or work permit, etc) which verifies

the address.

Wow.  Such a waste of time considering I have a current Thai car drivers license and just want to replace a lost motorcycle license.

Seems it depends what DLT you use.

My friend has just come back from the UK for a 3 week holiday. His D/L ran out 3 months ago no problem as it's ok to renew for 1 year. He had to get a doctors letter take colour test that was it. Didn't have to look at video or have proof of address. That was in Saraburi. N/B he went with his Thai wife she did all the chatting.
