Maternity leave and visa validity

Featured Replies

Hi.. hoping that somebody could help me out.. i am currently working in thailand for 3 years in hotel industry.. I am pregnant and will take maternity leave on august 2018. I will be going to take maternity leave and give birth back to my home country Philippines from August 2018 to November 2018 which was already approved by the management verbally as of the moment.. My problem was with my 1 year extension of visa based on employment which will expire on September 2018 and my work permit which will expire as well on November 2018. I will be coming back to Thailand and resume work on December 2018. I which surely come back as I needed to continue my work so i will be able to get my benefits with social security for my maternity leave. Is there something i can do regarding my visa as I have heard that even i take re-entry, it would only be valid until the expiry date of my 1 year extension of visa based on employment and same issue with my work permit.. i am currently working in krabi area.. thanks

If you plan on leaving in August and your extension of stay is ending in September you could possibley apply for the new one before leaving. You can do the extension up to 30 days early or 45 days at some offices.  With proof of your travel plans they might do it earlier.

Your employer may be able to apply for your work permit extension without you needing to be here.

If you cannot get the extension before leaving you would have to to get a new non-b visa before returning to apply for your extension after you return.
