Visa extension in Jomtien

The last time I extended my tourist visa (permission to stay) in Jomtien it was a hassle and a mess. I will need to do it again in about a couple weeks. Has anyone done it recently? Can I do it about 8 days early? What exactly are they asking for these days?

Last time I went 8 days ahead (on a Thursday) and the IO told me to return on Monday. When I returned on Monday he told me to return on Thursday (the day before the permission expired).

Last time they gave me a receipt for the hotel form (TM30?) and I had to copy it. And then they made me re-copy the departure card folded a certain way. They didn't tell me I had to go to the "green room" and, when I found out, I had no idea where the green room was. It wasn't green.

I hope it is faster and smoother this time.
