June 25, 20188 yr One of my favorites in Thailand is the Chili Oil. Can you share with me a great recipe? I want to try it doing at home instead of always buying it from a grocery store. Thanks.
June 25, 20188 yr Dried and ground chili pepper heated in oil? With or without other spices and secret recipes? Just don't burn it.
June 25, 20188 yr Ain't no such thing as "Thai chilli oil". It's a Chinese thing. Not part of traditional Thai cuisine at all. .

I first came across it Lisbon in the 80s sold in 'Tashkas' with simple roast chicken. Now I make my own. Just stuff a container full of dried chillies and cover in oil of choice. Then seal it and leave it.I use olive oil or rice bran husk oil or coconut oil. But there are many different approaches.
July 21, 20188 yr Yep, I make my own with olive oil and it's great for sprinkling on home made pizzas or anything you want to spice up. I use one of the vinegar/oil pouring glass containers that you can buy in Big C and elsewhere, I buy the smaller dried chillies and break them a little to let any air out so they sink to the bottom of the container more quickly. Put them in, pour in the oil and let stand for a couple of weeks or so and ready to go...….and can top up when you want.
