Davef2912
Hi, I am planning to get a 3 month tourist visa in HCMC, Vietnam. On the website it says it would take 2 working days. Can anyone confirm that? I am used to Vientiane where one usually hands in the paperwork in the morning and can pick up the visa on the next day in the afternoon. Can someone describe the process in Saigon /HCMC for me, please? Also what kind of documents and things do I really require? On the website it states that I need to show 20.000 THB? Can I pay in Vietnamese Dong there or do I need USD or THB? Thanks
Nick ZepTepi
I did HCMC last year. You must have all the documents listed as required on their website. They are strict but fair. Can't remember which currency, probably USD.It's a 60 day visa + 30 day extension in Thailand, you can submit travel out documents dated at 89-90 days after entry.I submitted in the morning and got it back the next day, as per the website at the time, but things have gotten busier they may have changed. ubonjoe
The 2 days is the morning of the date you apply and the next afternoon when you pickup your passport. You need to show the equivalent of 20k baht in a bank account. The fee has to paid in US dollars ($40).
LongTimeLurker
You'll need Ticket into Thailand Ticket out of Thailand Recent bank statement / updated bank book (they don't always ask for fiscal proof but it's no hassle to get just in case) Usual passport copies and a photo If you already have a lot of Thai stamps they'll ask questions, like purpose of visit. Fees MUST BE in US$ Apply one morning, collect the next afternoon. I've never been asked for proof of accommodation but it's last year since I applied there so don't know if it may have been newly added?
Davef2912
Thanks everyone for the feedback! The money must be on a bank account? I can not show it in cash?

They need a piece of paper they can put in their records. The bank statement can be from anywhere in the world as long as it is reasonably recent. They are pretty good, actually, at accepting anything that clearly identifies you as the account owner and that is not obviously fake. A print out from an Internet account is acceptable, even an ATM slip showing current balance along with evidence that it is your account.

You can show them cash. I have done it before when they wouldn't accept my bank book. Don't know if it can be any currency in cash. I showed them Dong. Davef2912
Does anyone know if at the consulate anyone checks if the return ticket is real or not?
