Paul, it's your decision as to what to do next but taking all your test results to a generalist family doctor rather than any of the GI specialists in town makes absolutely no sense to me. I would have thought your better options might be to consult with an alternate GI specialist since that is almost certainly the direction that your GP will steer you, your options on this front include Dr Jeerasak at Rajavej who is supported by Dr Kanika plus one or two very carefully selected options at Sriphat.

Simoh, I know that I am going to have to see another specialist, probably early next week, thanks for the tip on Dr. Jeerasak at Rajavej, I may well get the colonoscopy/endoscopy done by him and if he can't help me or identify what's wrong then I would take the findings to Bumrungrad. I am seeing my GP so she can do the blood test that Sheryl has advised and also because she is very good with referals, I need to show her all the results of my CT scans, she has already got copies of my last endoscopy/ colonoscopy results. I also want to speak to her about the amount of meds I am taking and ensure that they are all interacting well together, that could be an issue for me, I don't know. I know she won't be able to fix my problem but I don't think it can do any harm while I am waiting to see a specialist.

Thanks for your concern buddy.

If it is felt the problem is in the colon (as would be the case if it is UC or a recurrence of diverticulitis) then this specialist in Bangkok is top notch

He is also at Bangkok Christian Hospital, I think on Tuesdays but they have just revised their website and it is only in Thai so I can't check.

Thanks a lot Sheryl.

Forgive me for being harsh but you're running around in circles seeing this doctor and that doctor, don't waste your time seeing family doctors go see a specialist and be done with it all. If you don't do that you'll run up very large medical bills very quickly plus you'll get even more confused than you already are by conflicting views.

You are right of course, I don't take offence at people who are trying to help me. I will make an appointment to see the Doc at Rajevej tomorrow

Cheers

I would hope your avatar with a cigarette in his mouth is not you in real life. It's quite well documented smokers are subject to more health problems than non-smokers.

Yes I used to be that man when I put the avatar up Lacessit

Gave up 18 months ago, glad I did as it is very bad for the kind of problems I have, also no alcohol either.

Be careful what you say to Jeerasak, Kannika trained Jeerasak at CMU along with Piset and Jaruwat and they do chat and cross-reference their patients with each other, I know this to be true personally. Perhaps better to remain anonymous with no history to show, alternatively consider taking up Sheryl's further afield option.

You have to tell any GI doctor you see at least the following (correct any details I have wrong):

- diagnosed with UC in (year) (how/show report if possible) and taking X meds for it

- hospitalization in ?April for gastric distress , gastroscopy showed chronic gastritis, treated with X. Colonoscopy done same time showed XXX

- recently hospitalized with diagnosis of diverticulitits treated with antibiotics, improved but now again there is pain

Actually, going to see Dr. Morgan first might be a good idea since Paul's description of his pain and history seems rather confusing.  She could help to sort out what's really going on -- what tests he's had, what's really been ruled out, did the doctor at CM Ram really refer Paul to go see a shrink, etc.  Dr. Morgan has good contacts all around town and could be a good advocate for Paul with the appropriate specialist if he's having trouble himself in communicating exactly what's going on.

I've seen her do a good job of cutting through delays and brick walls for her patients at various hospitals in CM and she's very good at explaining what's happening to Thai wives, also.

Thanks for the tip, if I see him then I will be careful not to say anything negative about the doc at CMR,.

However now that I have tripled my medication for Ulcerative Colitis I am feeling much better. This is the second day in a row I have not been woken by pain. There is still some discomfort there but nothing like as bad as it was when I started this thread.

Paul I neglected to ask the obvious re your current pain: are you at all constipated? And if so are you taking any type of pain killer? (Often cause of constipation).

You should not be tripling UC med without checking with the doctor eho manages your UC. If you have one return to him. Otherwise try the colon specialist in Bkk I mentioned. I don't know how much experience he has with UC but he is an excellent colon specialist and really nice and conscientious and if he thinks someone else would be better he'll help refer you.

UC is a chronic disease and it is important to have regular medical oversight with continuity (i.e. same doctor).

Aside from medication, given that you now apparently also have diverticula you need advice on your diet. Diverticula are best ma aged with a high fiber intake but before doing that need to discuss with UC doc as it may exacerbate the UC.

Regarding the dairy you eliminated (apparently with no change) once you are feeling fine I think you can restart it slowly. If it causes problems then of course stop again but it seems to have passed the elimination test and not be the problem.

Hi Sheryl,

I am not going regularly at one time I may be constipated and a few days later I get the runs, but as I have said in a previous post I am starting to feel better as a result of increasing my Salafalk for UC as I feel that I am having a flare up, but I have no stomach pain on writing.

3 years ago when I was really ill  the doctor recommended I up my dose of Salafalk to the dosage I am taking now, I think it made a difference. I can't very well ask my doctor at Ram if it's a good idea so I am going by what I was told in the past, and as I said it seems to be working.

With the divictularcosis a low fibre diet was recommended which I followed, now I am adding fibre as I no longer have that problem, I drink blended fruit, mainly bananas for breakfast, a veggie cocktail for lunch and chicken or fish with loads of brocolli, carrots and asparagus. I take 2 probiotic tablets every morning. Plenty of Chia seeds as well.

I have been taking painkillers but am off them now
