WARNER BROS. DC ENTERTAINMENT

Jared Leto will make the jump from playing The Joker in the DCEU to become a living vampire in Sony's offshoot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Suicide Squad actor has signed on to play the title character in Morbius, the Living Vampire, which along with Tom Hardy's Venom, Silver & Black and Silk will all branch off from the Spider-Man mythology.

Leto's character, Michael Morbius, is a biologist who accidentally infects himself with a virus that transforms him into a vampiric being, complete with fangs and a thirst for blood.

Morbius was often a villain in his early clashes with Spider-Man, but later became more of an anti-hero and occasionally a selfless hero in Marvel Comics lore.
